Date Night - Anniversary Date Forage

We have been meaning to try Forage for years now.  We both thought there wasn't a more perfect time to go than to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary.  When we arrived, there was a cute little menu on the table that said Happy Anniversary on the top.  Of course, we took one home with us.

The food was amazing.  Now, it's a 15 course meal so not everything was amazing but there was not one bad food item.  Everything was good.  However, the wine pairing was not.  We were both rather disappointed in it.  We, by all means are not wine experts but this was far from being a good pairing.  They paired the bison course with a white wine.  Yes, you read correctly, a white wine.  There was only one wine that actually seemed to pair well with the dishes it matched up with.  We are going to guess that they don't have a sommelier.  If they don't they really need to hire one.  The price of the wine pairing was $65 per person.  At that price, the wine pairing should be a lot better. We will definitely not have the wine pairing again.

Frozen Tomato and Herb Flowers
Food, however, we would definitely go back for.  We started off with the Frozen Tomato and Herb Flowers.  It was fun and refreshing.  A perfect way to start the meal off.

Crayfish and New Potatoes
One of our favorite dishes of the night was the Crayfish and New Potatoes.  Crayfish is hard to eat and so we both loved that they put it in a soup.  It was easy and quite tasty.

Cucumber with Bison and Borage

One of the most aesthetic pleasing dishes was the Bison.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  We almost didn't want to eat it but glad that we did.  This was both our first time having bison and we loved it.

Burnt Eggplant
One of the least pleasing looking dishes was the eggplant.  Seriously look at it, who wants to eat that? But honestly, it was fun and burnt eggplant is actually good.

Duck Egg

Colorado Red Chicken with Turnips

Besides dessert, they left the best courses for last.  The top one was a duck egg pierogi accompanied by sauce in the egg shell.  It was perfect.  The yolk of the egg oozed out just perfectly.  It was not too runny or too solid.  We could have eaten a dozen of these.

Below that is chicken.  We eat a lot of chicken at home so when we go out, we rarely order chicken. Plus chicken, most the time is so ordinary.  This was far from ordinary.  The presentation was beautiful and the chicken was cooked perfectly.  One of the best pieces of chicken we have ever eaten.

Grilled Stone Fruit and Toasted Bread

Dessert was also delicious.  They brought out the bottom one which was not on the menu but it was such a cute dish, we had to take a picture of it.

Chef Brown did a great job and we can't wait to go back and see what else he can come up with. If anything looked good on here, we are sorry, they probably won't have it on the menu because it is ever changing.  But if you are willing to try things, we highly suggest you go out to Forage.  They do accommodate for allergies, you just have to give them a heads up a day before your reservation.

Rodrigo Valenzuela Prole Exhibit
CUAC is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Rodrigo Valenzuela, an emerging artist from Chile.  In Prole, the iconography of historical labor unions becomes the departure point for a new body of work that comments on the dying spirit of the union force in today’s society—unions, as Valenzuela argues, are treated now more as insurance companies than the community builders or empowerment networks they once were.
