This week is the Grand Opening of the new Eccles Theater. We were fortunate enough to see it a few
weeks ago and it is amazing. The space
is incredibly beautiful. A three day
event is taking place this week. One is
the Premier Performance and then two open houses. See more information below.
Eccles Theater presents The
Premier Performance
Guests will get a
once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the first performance at the Eccles
Theater. with Tony Award-winning performer Brian Stokes Mitchell and “Smash”
television actress and Tony-nominated Broadway performer Megan Hilty. The
performance will be hosted by Emmy, Grammy, Tony, and Academy Award-winning
singer and actress Rita Moreno and will be accompanied by the Ballet West
Orchestra, with music directed by award-winning local favorite Kurt Bestor.
They will be joined on stage by some of Utah’s finest performing artists,
including Ballet West, the University of Utah Department of Theatre, Utah Opera
Chorus, and a first-of-its-kind jointly performed piece from Repertory Dance
Theatre and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.

Eccles Theater Open House and
Art Celebration
A free community
arts celebration will open the Main Street and Regent Street doors of the
Eccles Theater, giving people the chance to view the architecture and explore
Salt Lake City’s newest performing arts venue. 15-minute, drop-in performances will
occur throughout the myriad of performance spaces in the venue and feature some
of Utah’s best local performing artists.

Scarecrow Festival
Enjoy the beautiful
autumn colors in the expansive 55-acre gardens and dozens of imaginative
scarecrows built and submitted by the community. Scarecrows will be on display
all week, but for vendors, food, and activities be sure to visit on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday!

Wasatch Brewery presents Park
City Shot Ski
Help Wasatch Brewery
break the world record for the longest continuous shot ski. Take a shot of Wasatch Premium Ale (the first
craft beer brewed in Utah after Prohibition). The goal is to enlist 1,000 supporters
to beat the Breckenridge Distillery Shot Ski record of 881. After breaking the
record, there will be live music by the Utah County Swillers, games and more
delicious Wasatch craft beers.
