Date - Anniversary Weekend at the Grand America

For our 6th year wedding anniversary, we decided to have a relaxing getaway at the Grand America. This year has been so busy that we haven't had time to take a vacation.  So we needed this.  Our room was on the 24th floor (the top floor).  It had a great view of the city but honestly we both were a little apprehensive on that small balcony.

The first night, we grab a bite and drinks at the Gibson Girl Lounge.  The lounge has a very 1920s feel.  It has wonderful old world type charm.

We started off with a couple drinks then ordered a burger, a bowl of clam chowder and the tuna poke. Som loved the tuna poke.  He enjoyed it so much that he ordered it the next day for lunch. Everything was quite good.  It really made us wonder why it took us so long to try this place.

After we listened to jazz in the lobby lounge.  It was quite an enjoyable, relaxing evening.

The next day, we relaxed by the pool.  Utah can be a pretty crazy place especially with their liquor laws.  The Grand America pool happens to be one of the only pools that you can order a drink poolside.  It was an incredibly beautiful day to be outside.  We both even got some reading done.

After the pool, we booked a couple's massage at their spa.  Their spa is so relaxing.  We sipped on some tea before our massage and just wound down.  The massage itself was probably one of the best massages either of us has ever had.  So good that we decided we need to get the couple's massage here at least once a year.

That night, we had dinner at Pallet.  We just love Pallet so much.  It has to be one of our favorite places in Salt Lake.  We've both celebrated birthdays there too!  The staff is so incredibly sweet and everyone wished us a Happy Anniversary.

The next day, we checked out but before we left, we at that Grand Brunch Buffet.  This was a first for us too.  We didn't realize how busy that place gets.  It is extremely popular.  Usually, we don't go to buffets.  Sothea doesn't eat enough to make it even remotely close to worth it.  This buffet was delicious.  We had piles and piles of crab on our plates!  I think we'll have to bring our parents one day.  They would love it.

All the desserts were so delectable looking.  We especially love the macaroons.  We even stopped by their bakery La Bonne Vie and bought some to take home.

It was so nice to get away and be pampered.  We'll definitely have to come back and do it again.
