Date Night - SoCo

We went out for a casual dinner date at Soco. Yes, we went on a casual dinner date.  Shocker right? Soco opened up where Shogun and Yellowtail used to be. They serve southern comfort food. Neither of us has been to the South so we really can't tell you if it's authentic or not. But you know, good food is good food.

Soco has a good sized drink menu but keep in mind, they are not a bar.  You have to order food to order a drink.  We saw a few different groups come in and leave because all they wanted was a drink.  Som ordered a beer and Sothea ordered a rhubarb martini.  The martini was rather mediocre.  We ended getting drinks later at the Rest.







For food, Som, of course, had to try the chicken and waffles.  The chicken was really good.  The waffle was okay.  Probably not his favorite chicken and waffles in the city.  However he loved the mac & cheese.

Sothea ordered 2 piece fried chicken with mac & cheese, hush puppies, and cornbread.  Sothea ordered the cornbread for Som to try.  He loves cornbread and she was waiting for him to repeat the line from Life which is probably one of his favorite scenes from that movie.  "...you can't have my cornbread.  That's for damn sure..."  It didn't play out like the movie and Sothea shared.  

Anyways, everything on Sothea's plate was quite good, comforting and super filling.  This is the perfect place for if you are having a bad day and you need to eat your feelings or just for a good meal!  So go out and give it a try.
