Fireside on Regent

When the new Eccles Theater on Main Street open, we were super excited.  The place is gorgeous. When we heard they were transforming Regent Street behind the Eccles Theater, we were more excited.  Right now there isn't much.  We have been patiently waiting for Viet Pham's new restaurant Pretty Bird to open up.  In the meantime, we went to Fireside.  Fireside is a fine dining restaurant that focuses on wood fire pizza and artisan pastas.  Of course, we had to try one of each but first we ordered cocktails.

We went during Negroni week so Som ordered their Mezcal Negroni.  It had Ransom sweet vermouth, Wahaka mezcal, Campari, and Aperol.  It was very good.  We actually went out to the liquor store after to get Aperol to try it at home.  Sothea ordered the Fireside Margarita which also had mezcal.  We had been on this mezcal kick lately.  The margarita also had Tito's, Aperol, lemongrass simple syrup and a house made sour. It's probably one of the better margaritas, Sothea has had.  We definitely want to go back and try more of their cocktails.

The first item that came out was the Patsy Marley pizza.  We both looked at the menu and said that one sounds really good.  It had little neck clams, roasted sweet pepper, chorizo, mozzarella, tomatoes, and saffron aioli.  Sounds delicious right?  It was, the flavors were all there but the pizza was rather soggy which was disappointing and one slice only had one clam.  For the price, we wouldn't order this one again.

For our pasta, we ordered the mushroom bucatini.  The pasta was perfect and the mushrooms were delicious.  Out of the two this was our favorite dish.

For dessert, the Ginger Baby Cake peeked our interest.  It came with an espresso ice cream and brittle.  It was good but super rich. After a few bites, you don't really want anymore.

Overall we thought the food was a little pricey but we loved their cocktails.  We'll definitely go back and try a couple of other things.
